La vida seriosa?

It´s a bizarre thing to notice that you can be really swallowed by life... After one week only, Barcelona seemed miles away. My memories lost in daily business...

What is it about this strange, hyper active world we live in, that we stop looking back, cherishing memorable moments and let us been led by schedules, exploding Outlook and Gmail-inboxes, mobile phones and 24/7 rush hour? Being incognito, but also being seen? Being state-of-the-art, but also pretending to be normal?

How come that Amsterdam seemed such a small relaxing village when I came back from Barcelona? And that it turned out to be a rat race?
How come that Barcelona seemed such a crazy, crowded major city, turning out to be like a little village, where people knew each other and took time to relax?
How about some contradictions?????!

I almost came to believe that it has something to with the weather... Because last weekend, finally, everything seemed Spanish out here: the sun was shining, temperatures hit 30 and life head outside, swimming in a finally acceptably temperatured sea, relaxing on aero-beds, chilling with wines and tapas in parks, dancing until nightfall at festivals all over town.

Have we finally come to realise that life is not only about careers, gaining ground, knowing the right people, running from appointment to appointment, always being behind on your schedule?

Well... at least we realised it during one fine long weekend, reliving memories, regaining strength for another crazy fortnight...

Welcome to Amsterdam, the city that never sleeps...
